    Dr Said is a leading Omani jurist and head of AMJ’s litigation and arbitration practice where he enjoys rights of audience before the Supreme Court. Dr Said brings to his practice a wealth of experience accumulated over a long and distinguished judicial career culminating in his tenure as Vice President of the Supreme Court of Oman until his retirement from the judiciary in 2002.

    Dr Said served as Vice President of the Council of State (Majlis al-Dawla), the upper house of the Council of Oman, and was appointed by the cabinet of ministers to chair the committee entrusted with oversight of Oman’s new civil transactions law, a legislative landmark.

    In addition to his vast fund of knowledge of Omani law and the legislative and judicial process, Dr Said has also participated in the negotiation of many bilateral and multilateral treaties on behalf of the government and represented Oman at numerous international forums. As chairman of the founding committees of both the Higher Institute for Judges and the College of Sharia and Law, Dr Said has been a driving force in the development of the judicial system and legal profession in Oman.

    Dr Said holds a doctorate in Public Law, specialising in the Law of the Sea, from the Sorbonne in Paris and is fluent in French, English and Arabic.

  • Has served from 2003 to 2007 as the Head of the Legal Committee and from 2007 to 2015 as the Vice President of the Council of State (Majlis al-Dawla), the upper house of the Council of Oman.
