Marcus is a partner who heads AMJ’s banking and finance team. Dual-qualified as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and as a solicitor in Scotland, Marcus has extensive experience in projects, international bank financing, syndicated lending (including acquisition finance), trade and ECA-backed finance, real estate finance, restructurings and bank financed limited recourse transactions. His clients include leading international banks, financial institutions and agencies as well as sponsors and project companies in sectors such as power, petrochemicals, oil and gas, transport and infrastructure. He has been involved in numerous multi-sourced financings including Islamic financings, multi-laterals, governmental agencies, ECAs and commercial banks.

Advised Majid Al Futtaim Properties (Oman) LLC in connection with a term loan facility to finance the design, development, engineering, procurement, construction, equipment, testing, ownership and operation and maintenance of the Mall of the Sultanate of Oman.
Advised Oman Gas Company SAOC with regard to the Salalah LPG Project.
Advised Lenders on USD 3,550,000,000 financing for the Government of the Sultanate of Oman.
Advised the Lenders on the financing of the Ibri Sohar IPP Project.
Advised the Sponsors in connection with the development, financing, design, engineering, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of the Barka Sohar Independent Water Project.
Assisted the Lenders International Counsel, on behalf of the potential financiers to Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company SAOC in connection with the financing of the Liwa Plastics Project to be located at Fahud and the Industrial Complex in Sohar with a connecting 300 km pipeline between the two.
Advised Oman Oil Company S.A.O.G. on the Musandam Independent Power Project.
Advised the lenders with respect to the Qurayat IWP project for the development, design, construction, ownership, financing, operation and maintenance of a water desalination facility at Quriyat.
Advised the lenders to the consortium in respect of the Salalah II Independent Power Project.
Acting as Lenders local counsel in respect of the Sur Independent Water Project – Expansion.
Advised Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC on the USD 2.8 billion Sohar Refinery expansion and refinancing project.
Advised the lenders on the financing of Al Ghubrah IPP and acted for the bidders of the development, financing, design, engineering, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of Al Ghubrah IPP.
Represented GDF Suez and its consortium as local legal counsel in Oman for the development, financing, design, engineering, construction, ownership, operation and maintenance of Barka Phase III and Sohar Phase II IPPs.
Advised Suez Energy and its consortium members on a USD 1 billion Barka Power and Desalination II Project & Rusail Power Co. SAOC Privatisation.
Advised the Lenders on a USD 173 million Independent Water Project for Sharqiya region and the privatization of the Sur Desalination Plant.
Acted for Bank Sohar SAOG in respect of the project financing of USD 25,000,000 to Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co LLC for Phase 4, being the design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of a 120,000 cbm bulk storage tank farm, at Sohar Industrial Port.
Acted for National Bank of Oman SAOG in respect of the project financing of USD 89,437,000 to Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co LLC for Phases 5 and 6, being the design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of a 305,000 cbm bulk storage tank farm and a 27,300 cbm bulk storage tank farm, at Sohar Industrial Port.
Acted for Bank Muscat SAOG acting as the Original Lender, Mandated Lead Arranger, Agent, Security Agent and Account Bank in respect of the project financing of USD 163,700,000 to Oiltanking Odfjell Terminals & Co LLC for the design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of a 537,000 cbm bulk storage tank farm and jetty and a 280,280 cbm bulk storage tank farm, at Sohar Industrial Port.
Acted as local counsel for the lenders to the Oman Aromatics Project.
RESTRUCTURING AND WHOLESALE FINANCE
Advised the Lenders on the restructuring of facilities for MB Petroleum Services LLC.
Advised Octal Petrochemicals LLC FZC in connection with a syndicated term loan facility of US$ 225 million and working capital of US$ 400 million.
Advised Lenders on USD 3,550,000,000 financing for the Government of the Sultanate of Oman.
Advised Bank Muscat SAOG as borrower in respect of a Senior Unsecured Term Loan Facility of USD 525,000,000 with a consortium of 12 relationship banks.
Advised the Lenders on USD 1 billion financing for Government of the Sultanate of Oman.
Advised Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company SAOC in connection with a RO 350,000,000 term facility.
Advised the Finance Parties in connection with a restructuring of the facilities for ACWA Power Barka SAOG.
Advised Bank Muscat SAOG on the USD50 million unsecured term loan facility provided to a Sri Lankan bank for the purposes of facilitating the financing of Sri Lankan SMEs.
Advised the Finance Parties in respect of a USD 125,000,000 credit facility to The Zubair Holding LLC.
Advised Bank Muscat on USD 120 million syndicated refinancing of Dalma Energy & Co LLC.
Advised Octal Holding Co SAOC and its subsidiary company Octal Petrochemicals in respect of the project financing amounting to USD 194 million.
