    Zarrar is a member of the Commercial and Banking and Islamic Finance Teams at AMJ. He has a broad range of experience in corporate and M&A, commercial, banking and Islamic finance. Zarrar has acted for clients in a number of high-profile and complex M&A deals and financial transactions in Oman. He routinely advises lenders and borrowers in financing transactions with a focus on Islamic financing structures. 

    Zarrar was ranked as a ‘Rising Star’ in Oman by IFLR 1000 (2023-2024) and Legal 500 (2023). He is also “recommended for Islamic banking mandates” by Legal 500 (2023). Other client testimonials include:

  • on the Manah Solar I IPP Project;
  • Ahli Bank SAOG on behalf of a syndicate of lenders on the financing (conventional and Islamic) of a project to construct a greenfield titanium slag and pig iron plant in the Sohar Free Zone;
  • a syndicate of banks on an OMR 37 million conventional and Islamic (funded and unfunded) finance facilities to Towell Infrastructure Projects Company for developing a water distribution project in Mudhaibi, Oman;

  • Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC with respect to the term loan facilities of USD 450M and USD 50M to be availed from Bank Muscat SAOG for refinancing their debt;
  • SMBC Aviation Capital Limited on the leasing of two A321neo Aircraft to Salam Air S.A.O.C.;
  • Sun Country, Inc. as the Lessor on the leasing of five 737-900ER Aircrafts to Oman Air SAOC;
  • Khimji Ramdas Group in the sale of Khimji Paints LLC to the Hempel Group;
  • HSBC Bank Middle East on the setting up of a branch in Oman;
  • Myco Technology Inc. in a joint venture with the Oman Investment Authority to set up food manufacturing facilities in Oman;
  • Arab Bank Plc in the takeover of Alizz Islamic Bank by Oman Arab Bank.
